Selin Demirel was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. At the age of 11, she began cello lessons with Prof. Eldar Iskenderov at the Istanbul Conservatory, where she graduated as valedictorian. She then moved to Germany as a young student to complete a two-year training program in violoncello at the Detmold Young Student Institute. Subsequently, she studied at the Hanover University of Music and at the University of the Arts in Berlin. In addition to these degrees, she pursued further studies in Switzerland at the Kalaidos University of Music in Zurich with David Geringas and Friedemann Ludwig.

Throughout her musical development, Selin had the privilege of being inspired and guided by renowned musicians such as Maria Kliegel, Dennis Parker, Susan Rybicki-Varga, Ditta Rohmann, Troels Svane, and Leonid Gorokhov. Selin Demirel was a scholarship holder of the Ayhan Şahenk Foundation and is also a scholarship holder of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation.

Selin Demirel has successfully participated in international music competitions, winning the second prize at the István Kertész Competition in Zurich, Switzerland, and the third prize at the Chamber Music Competition in Edirne, Turkey. She performs as a soloist in orchestras and gives concerts with various established chamber music partners. Additionally, she is musically active in various ensembles. Selin Demirel has performed extensively in Germany and abroad, in countries such as Switzerland, Turkey, the USA, France, China, Hungary, Jordan, Italy, and Lithuania.

With her broad musical repertoire and passion for the cello, she has made a name for herself both nationally and internationally.
